“Do you know that 96% of small businesses fail within 10 years? 50% fail in the first year, 80% fail in the first five. How awful, why would anyone even bother trying? Why? Why?
And a lot of business owners only earn a minimum wage. They don’t realise it because they might be taking home £30 -35K a year but if they are doing 50 hours/ 80 hours a week rather – which many business owners do – if they do the math they will find they are on £7.50 -£10 per hour. Now they would not accept that from an employer but for some reason when they are working in their own business, they will accept that – which seems crazy to me. And I’m sure you agree.
So why does this happen? I have identified that a major issue is that most business owners work in their business, not on their business. What does that mean. You have to build a business that works, so that you ultimately don’t. It means focusing on things like the three freedoms -time, money and peace of mind. It means being proactive, having the right actionable business plan, goals and strategies for success. It’s about time management, mindset and leadership. With this in place failure is almost impossible.
